With the (at last) recommendification of XSLT 2.0, XQuery, and XPath 2.0, it seems like a good time to get interested in programming language support for XML.   • The Scala language has native support for XML, it also merges the functional and oo paradigms and integrates with Java and .NET. A good and quick overview can be found in the POPL06 (pdf) keynote!
