Thinking Clearly: A Week in Den Haag

My server—new: her third night—at Spijs insisted that a “gamboa” was not a “shrimp”, in English

    I think she's right, I think they're prawns.

I'm not sure which word she was using ("gamboa" is my phonetic rendering of my memory of what she said), but I do know that what was on my plate were ordinary shrimp; we don't really use the word "prawn" that much in food vocabulary in American English. :>

    Hi Kendall,

Guess she said "Gamba", meaning a chinese variant of shrimps ....
